Harlow Council have confirmed that Rob Tinlin will be the new interim Chief Executive after his appointment was approved by councillors at a Special Council meeting on Monday.
Following the recommendation from the council’s appointments panel, Rob’s appointment will last a maximum of six months whilst the leaders at Harlow Council search for someone to be a permanent Chief Executive as well as Head of Paid Services.
Councillor Russell Perrin, Leader of Harlow Council, said: “I am delighted that we have managed to secure the services of someone of Rob’s calibre and experience who will work with us to recruit a new permanent Chief Executive for Harlow Council. Rob has an impressive track record as a Chief Executive in Essex, and I look forward to working closely with him in the coming months as we take the council and the town forwards.”
Tinlin was previously Chief Executive at Southend-On-Sea Borough Council for 12 years before retiring after serving the local government for more than 40 years – Rob has also recently worked in interim Chief Executive roles at both Castlepoint and Uttlesford Council.
Rob Tinlin said on his appointment: “I am looking forward to working alongside the members, officers and partners of Harlow Council to deliver for the town’s residents and businesses, and to facilitate the search for its next permanent Chief Executive.”
The cost of Tinlin’s appointment will be covered from within the council’s approved budget for 2022/23.
