Bridgend County Borough Council has announced that funding is to be allocated to communities across the area, for the benefit of community projects.
Allocated through the Town and Capital Grant Scheme, funding of up to £100,000 has been approved by the Cabinet in order to press on with a number of community projects that are aligned with the council’s Community Asset Transfer programme. Successful grant applications are also aligned with the County Borough Council’s agenda for decarbonisation and net zero by 2030.

Councillor John Spanswick, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment, said:
“The council’s Community Asset Transfer Officer will engage with those Town and Community Councils that haven’t been successful in receiving a grant on this occasion.
“We will guide those councils in achieving a better alignment with the Council’s Community Asset Transfer and net zero aspirations, in readiness for any future bids.
“We look forward to seeing how the projects that have received funding develop over the coming months, as well as how the investment benefits the community.”
Initiatives ranging from children’s play park upgrades to an edible forest garden are being supported through the funding, with Porthcawl, Pyle and Coychurch being the areas that will see the community benefit.
The council has also announced that any funding that is left over from the allocations will roll over to the funding and support of other projects in 2024-2025 and onwards.
