Wokingham council interim boss steps down as CEO search goes on
The interim chief executive of Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) has stood down from her post “to pursue other opportunities” with immediate effect.
Manjeet Gill stepped down from her role five months before she was expected to after being taken on for just a six-month contract, which turned into a much longer assignment as she assisted the council whilst WBC recruited a new chief executive to work towards its long-term strategic plans.
In an announcement today by leader of the council Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor, Gill was thanked for the “energy and commitment” shown to the borough.
“Following over a year as interim chief executive of Wokingham Borough, Manjeet Gill has decided to leave the Council to pursue other opportunities,” Cllr Taylor said.
“What had initially been just a six-month contract, turned into a much longer assignment as she assisted the council whilst we recruited our new permanent chief executive and helped us with our long-term strategic plans.
“We wish Manjeet well in her future endeavours, and we thank her for her dedication in extending her assignment beyond the initial six months.”
Wokingham’s Full Council will meet on 22 November to agree the interim arrangements until the new permanent chief executive is appointed.
Heather Thwaites will be acting chief executive whilst the search continues.
