NSMC becomes non-profit social enterprise
The National Social Marketing Centre (NSMC) has officially launched as a non-profit social enterprise, established to serve a community interest. Any surplus generated will be invested back into the community.
The centre works to improve the effectiveness of behaviour change programmes and has recently launched an accredited Level 4 Social Marketing Award course with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
NSMC also provides policy advice and support to government, an independent evaluation service for behaviour change programmes and a membership programme with the centre offering CPD opportunities.
John Bromley, managing director of the NSMC, said: “We are pleased to announce the formal start-up of the National Social Marketing Centre as a social enterprise today. This is a new and exciting chapter for the organisation with many opportunities to build on our achievements.
“As a not for profit organisation our aim is to continue to support the social marketing sector by using our surpluses to improve the products and resources we provide for practitioners.
“The NSMC’s main objective will therefore continue to be helping organisations and individuals, in theUKand abroad, to build their skills and capacity so that they can deliver more effective programmes that improve people’s health and wellbeing.”
Public health minister Anne Milton MP said: “Helping everyone make informed choices about their lives is fundamental to improving the public’s health and reaching new groups through social marketing is increasingly important.
“This new arrangement will help grow the Centre’s work. I am pleased The NSMC has successfully won a number of new international projects and wish them every success in the future as a Community Interest Company.”
