Solace elects new president
Public sector chief executives and senior managers have elected the CEO of Doncaster council as their new president.
Jo Miller won the election to replace Mark Rogers with 60.21% of the vote, defeating Trevor Holden, the chief executive of Luton council. Of the 956 full Solace members eligible to vote, 289 voted in a 30% turnout.
Rogers’ term as president will formally conclude at the Solace AGM in Gateshead on 12 October, and Miller will be recommended as his replacement for a term of two years.
A new chair is also due to be announced at the AGM. Gavin Jones has acted as interim chair since Jane Robinson stood down in July.
Prior to being voted as the new president, Miller said she wanted to use the role to “shape future public services fit for people”.
